Local radio stations win Virginia Association of Broadcasters awards

Kilmarnock-based radio stations 101.7 Bay FM and 104.9 WIGO Country won big for the 12th consecutive year at the 84th annual Virginia Association of Broadcasters (VAB) awards ceremony Wednesday, September 22, in Virginia Beach.

Two Rivers Communications, WKWI 101.7 Bay FM, 104.9 WIGO Country vice president and general manager Dennis Burchill received the C.T. Lucy Distinguished Service Award for demonstrating leadership in Virginia’s broadcast industry. Named for the founder of the VAB, the C.T. Lucy Distinguished Service Award honors a broadcaster who spent a significant part of his or her career at one or more Virginia broadcast properties and who has become a leader in the state’s broadcast industry.
