HEATHSVILLE—Lora Lynn Clegg, 94, was born September 3, 1928, in Spokane Wash., now of Heathsville, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2023, with her son by her side. She passed after a short illness and hospitalization.
She will be remembered as a wonderful mother and grandmother. She was a homemaker most of her life, enjoying bowling for many years, taking up painting and crafts and cooking some really amazing meals.
Lora was predeceased by her husband, Thomas F. Clegg of 65 years; an infant son, Robert Gene Clegg; and daughter, Catherine C. Salas; her parents, James E. and Mary C. Hurlbert; brothers, John W. Lamar and James H. Hurlbert; sister, Carrie Harrington; and granddaughter, Kathi G. Herrera.
Lora was beloved mother to daughter, Nora P. Harvey; sons, Thomas F. Clegg Jr. (Bernita) of Barstow, Calif., Michael E. Clegg (Pamela) of El Paso, Texas, and Darrin J. Clegg (Cathy) of Heathsville. She leaves behind one sister, Mary E. Shea of Lodi, Calif.
She was beloved and cherished by 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. All are spread across the U.S. She also is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, also spread across the U.S.
Our sorrow is great, but we know you are free of pain and we will see you again someday. Thank you for being our mother, grandma, great grandma and great-great grandma. You are loved and will be missed so very much.
Graveside service and burial will be at the Clegg Family Cemetery at Mount Pleasant in Wadley, Ala., at a later date. The family requests no flowers. If you so wish, in lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice in Lora’s name.
