Northumberland High School, which won the Region 1A basketball championship over Northampton, 82-57, to earn a home berth in the Virginia High School League Class 1 quarterfinals, captured both of the Northern Neck District’s top honors last week.
Senior Tyreek Lundy, who surpassed the 1,500 career scoring mark this season, was selected as the player of the year and Kyle Jones was chosen by peers as the coach of the year.
Lundy also filled a spot on the all-district’s first team along with junior teammate JD Barber.
