
WARSAW—Lurae Dungan Headley (aka Nan), 100, widow of George Dee Headley, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2023, in Warsaw.
Lurae was born April 7, 1923, in Luttrellville to Robert and Lucinda Dungan.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Robert Dungan (Anna); and numerous sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
She is survived by her daughter, Doris Headley Myers (Bradley); grandson, Neile Patrick Hannick; granddaughter, Angela Dee Freeburn (Greg); great-grandson, Ian Patrick Wright (Abby); great-granddaughter, Sarah Lurae Wright; a special nephew, Robert Edward Dungan; and numerous other nieces and nephews.
Lurae had a successful career at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren, where she helped numerous people during her tenure in the personnel office and as the deputy EEO coordinator. After retirement, Lurae spearheaded her own business called, “Nan’s Custom Made Draperies” where she met so many people who adored her.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, September 10, at Currie Funeral Home, Kilmarnock. A private family burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery.
