Main Street repaving and Norris Bridge projects continue; School Street reopens

KILMARNOCK—Milling and paving along Main Street in Kilmarnock and Mary Ball Road just north of town will continue, weather permitting, through October or until the project is completed.

Main Street/Mary Ball Road will be reduced to a single lane from 8 p.m.-6 a.m. Sundays-Thursdays from Irvington Road to Good Luck Road, reported Virginia Department of Transportation communication manager Kelly Hannon.

Work will continue Sunday-Thursday evenings until paving is complete and fresh pavement markings are applied, said Hannon. Motorists are urged to avoid distractions in the work zone and be alert for temporary traffic patterns, slow-moving construction equipment and a temporary rougher ride in milled sections of pavement.

Meanwhile, drivers can expect lane closures and travel delays on the Robert O. Norris Jr. Memorial Bridge over the Rappahannock River during October for a maintenance project to replace two bridge pins and for a scheduled bridge inspection…
