HEATHSVILLE—Major Johnny Beauchamp, second in command at the Northumberland County Sheriff’s Office, recently announced his candidacy for the office of Northumberland County Sheriff.
His announcement follows the decision of Sheriff James “Doc” Lyons not to seek re-election this November.
Beauchamp is a lifetime resident of Northumberland County, where he lives with his wife, Melinda, and their four children. He graduated from Northumberland public schools in 1996. Beauchamp is a volunteer firefighter since 1994 and serves as the president of the Fairfields Volunteer Fire Department in Burgess/Reedville and as a coach and member of the board of directors of the Northumberland County Little League.
