ALFONSO—Marian Harcum Shelton of Alfonso passed away peacefully on Monday, August 26, 2024, surrounded by family and friends while listening to her favorite music.
She was born on January 21, 1956, to William Clarence Harcum and Virginia Lee (Parks) Harcum in Richmond. She was raised in Morattico and was the youngest of six children.
In her youth, Marian loved playing softball and riding horses. She graduated Lancaster High School and pursued business studies at Rappahannock Community College. Marian dedicated many years of her career to Rappahannock General Hospital in Kilmarnock, working in the Home Health Department and spending the last 17 years with Bon Secours Rappahannock General Oncology and Infusion Center.
She is survived by her loving husband, L. Dennis Shelton; her cherished children, William B. (Christina) Hubbard, Marian Drew Hubbard (Jamie) Gaskins and Samantha L. Sibley; her beloved grandchildren, William H. “Liam” Hubbard and Katherine E. “Elsa” Hubbard; her stepchildren, Emory (Michael) Ryan and L. B. Shelton; her step-grandchild, Abigail Shelton; her sister, Virginia “Ginny” Parks; her brothers, Ralph (Donna) Harcum, David (Denise) Harcum and Walter (Sherry) Harcum; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Marian will also be dearly missed by her two beloved kitties, Luna and Bella.
She is predeceased by her parents; and her brother, William C. Harcum Jr.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, September 8, at Currie Funeral Home, 116 East Church Street, Kilmarnock. Friends are invited to visit one hour prior to the service.
