KILMARNOCK—Mary Ann Costello Crane, 82, of Kilmarnock passed away on March 17, 2026. She was the widow of Oliver Dawson Crane.
Mary Ann was born on July 5, 1943, to the late Arthur Frederick and Lillie Catherine Lichliter Costello in Martinsburg, West Virginia.
Mary Ann was an integral member of Kilmarnock Baptist Church, serving as treasurer, in addition to playing the organ for over 30 years. She worked at Wacovia for many years. After retiring, she worked part time at Currie Funeral Home for over 18 years where she played the organ for services and was the bookkeeper.
She and her husband, Oliver, were very active in the community for many years, helping with the Kilmarnock Volunteer Fire Department during the carnival season, and were central to developing Boy’s Camp (now called Camp Kekoka).
Mary Ann was kindhearted and generous. But her main love was her family. She always loved weekly dinner outings that she planned for them.
Mary Ann is survived by three sons, Keith (Beverley) of Conway, S.C., Jeffrey (Judy) of Dumfries and Samuel of Kilmarnock; and her brother, Glenn Costello (Lorraine) of Manning, S.C.; grandchildren, Kethry and Dawson Crane, and Adam and Lydia Crane.
Visitation was held from 5-7 p.m. Monday, March 23, at Currie Funeral Home in Kilmarnock. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 24, at Kilmarnock Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Kilmarnock Baptist Church.
