Mayor announces #KilmarnockStrong

KILMARNOCK—Through these trying times the Town of Kilmarnock wants to promote a message of unity, hope and gratitude.
“Kilmarnock has a history of overcoming adversity,” said Mayor Mae P. Umphlett. “After three devastating fires and numerous storms, this town has continued to come together to make this town the ‘Crossroads of the Northern Neck.’
“We want #KilmarnockStrong to reinforce the message that we are all in this together,” said Umphlett.
Signs made locally by Matthews Trading Company will be placed around the community, spreading a message of gratitude to healthcare workers, first responders and essential workers. Locations for the signs will be Bon Secours Rappahannock General Hospital, Kilmarnock Volunteer Fire Department and Kilmarnock-Lancaster Volunteer Rescue Squad.

In an effort to promote overall community good and encourage shopping local, the Town of Kilmarnock has created #KilmarnockStrong BINGO, said economic development and tourism coordinator Chad Thomas.
