IRVINGTON—Meredith Ann Puller Townes, 90, of Irvington passed away on September 18, 2026. She was born on March 18, 1936, to Timberlake Meredith Puller and Mary Gilliam (Williams) Puller.
She is survived by her husband, Col. James Edward Townes; two sons, Timberlake Meredith Townes of Downingtown, Pa., and Stephen Fleming Townes of Kilmarnock: two sisters, Mary Lou Griggs and Sallie Mae Newbill; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two stepchildren, Patricia Hooks of Naples, Fla., and Richard Townes of Charleston, S.C.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, John M. Townes III, and her son, John M. Townes IV.
Mrs. Townes was very active in many community, church and political groups during her lifetime. She enjoyed playing golf, tennis and bridge.
Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Friday, September 25, at Grace Episcopal Church, Kilmarnock.
Currie Funeral Home LLC of Kilmarnock handled the arrangements.
