FREDERICKSBURG—The Merry Point Ferry in Lancaster County was temporarily taken out of service effective Friday, July 1, due to a broken guide cable.
The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is making arrangements to expedite delivery of a cable to restore ferry service as soon as possible, reported Fredericksburg District communications manager Kelly Hannon. The cable is required to operate the ferry.
