HARTFIELD—Michael “Mike” Alexander Robertson, 64, of Hartfield passed on Monday, May 30, 2022, at his home, “Bonniewood,” in Hartfield.
He was born in 1957 and raised in Jacksonville, Florida. In 1983, he relocated to Hartfield, where his mother, Helen Robertson, lives today.
As a businessman for the past 40 years, he has been self-employed as a general contractor and restaurateur.
He served as the mayor of Kilmarnock from 2002-2006 and won as a write-in candidate. He also served on the Kilmarnock Town Council for eight years.
Mike had a passion for cooking and made some of his famous recipes at his many restaurants especially the Northside Grille, churches, family and friends. Many people can remember his golf days, the time he and his brother, Steve, almost lit up the banks on the Fourth of July. Many also know his nephew, Benny, shares the same middle name because those two were peas in a pod; memories irreplaceable.
We will always remember Mike when we pass certain places, live in that memory and know he is always around. Through his family, friends, and the many impactful accomplishments he created while serving the citizens of Kilmarnock as a town councilman and then as mayor.
He taught us a lot in life, he was an amazing father, the strict uncle to others, a protective brother, a proud son, and all around, someone who couldn’t be replaced.
Let us live remembering his laughter, his wisdom, and his passion.
Mike was preceded in death by his father, Harry J. Robertson.
He is survived by his mother, Helen Robertson; a daughter, Sarah Robertson of Washington, D.C.; sister, Stephanie Feria and husband, Eddie, of Hartfield; brother, Steve Robertson and wife, Michelle, of Austin, Texas; a number of nieces and nephews, and his dog-son, Bentley.
A memorial of his life and spreading of his ashes will be at a later date.
