Lancaster got what they needed in the waning minutes of regulation but couldn’t produce the winning score in overtime last Friday to lose its home opener, 36-30, to Middlesex.
Quarterback Porter Pittman, who finished with 72 yards on 13 carries, rushed around the right end to score on a 1-yard run then converted his own touchdown for two with 3:19 to play in the game to tie the contest at 30-30.
Middlesex found themselves in a third and 30 situation and threw an incomplete pass to end regulation tied in a knot, then came up with six in overtime for the win.
