Rising seventh grader Miriam Elizabeth Sisson, the daughter of Courtney and Michael Sisson of Farnham, has earned Chesapeake Academy’s 2023 C. Jackson Simmons Award for History and English.
This award was established through the C. Jackson Simmons Memorial to recognize a student who has excelled in history and English.
“This student goes above and beyond as a learner and as a citizen in the classroom all with a big smile and kind words to share,” said Kim Dynia on behalf of the humanities faculty. “She is always focused, attentive to details and thorough in her responses. Miriam thinks deeply about her readings, looking for a broad understanding and also for deeper connections with the material, and she continually asks questions to solidify her understanding.”
