KING GEORGE—Mitchell Anthony Dawson, 67, of King George passed from this life to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 11, 2025.
Mitchell was born in Kilmarnock on Monday, February 10, 1958, to the late Addison and Ruth (Benson) Dawson Sr. He spent most of his childhood in Weems.
Mitchell lived on the Potomac River for many years where he loved to fish and spend time with family and friends. He always had a wonderful sense of humor and wanted to make people laugh. He was always willing to lend a helping hand when needed.
Mitchell was married to Valli Jefferson. Together they had two daughters, Dana Harewood (Rich) and Katie Dawson. He also had one daughter, Tara Traas, and two sons, Mitchell Dawson Jr. and Nicholas Dawson, from a previous marriage to Bonnie Lyles.
Mitchell’s memory will be cherished by many, including 10 grandchildren, two brothers, Addison Dawson (Becky) and Melvin Dawson; and four sisters, Faye Silsby (Steve), Angela Walker, Audra Hoffman (Mike) and Sarah King (Steven); and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Dawson; and his brother-in-law, Eugene Walker.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 5, at Claybrook Baptist Church in Weems. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
