The congregation of Morattico Baptist Church on Sunday, September 24, dedicated the Hunton-Lunsford History Center.
The History Center is in the education building at Morattico Baptist Church, 924 Morattico Church Road, Kilmarnock, and is intended to be a source of thorough historical information about the church, said Kathy Pittman.
Morattico Baptist Church was founded in 1778 in a meeting of 19 members held at the home of Alexander Hunton on Lancaster Creek near the village of Morattico. His home was named Morattico Hall, and in recognition of his dedication to establishing a Baptist Church in the Northern Neck, the young congregation voted to name their new church Morattico Baptist.
