COLONIAL BEACH—At 7:20 p.m. Sunday, August 22, Virginia State Police (VSP) responded to a motor vehicle crash on Route 628 Pomona Road approximately 1/10 of a mile east of Route 630 Cedar Hill Road near Colonial Beach.
The preliminary investigation indicates that a 2003 Suzuki motorcycle was headed west on Pomona Road when it ran off the road to the right and struck a tree stump, according to VSP Richmond division public information officer Sgt. Dylan Davenport.
Thomas E. McClellan, 47, of Westmoreland County was the driver and sole occupant of the Suzuki. He was wearing a helmet. McClellan succumbed to his injuries on scene.
No other vehicles or persons are believed to be involved in the crash, said Sgt. Davenport. The investigation is ongoing.
