The Lancaster Community Library’s Sundays at Two 2023 will open January 22 with Dr. Joel Hoffman, an award-winning classical pianist, composer and teacher.
The presentation, “Composer, Pianist, Teacher – Which is it?” will begin at 2 p.m. at the Lancaster Community Library, 16 Town Centre Drive, Kilmarnock.
How does a great piece of music come to be? How do composers find inspiration? What is the creative process like? Is it more than hanging out in a bohemian garret waiting for inspiration followed by furious, feverish scribbling that may someday be performed? Do playing and teaching music impact the composer’s creative process? How does the composer influence the conductor when the work is performed?
