WICOMICO CHURCH—Nancy Gibson Greene, 86, of Wicomico Church passed away on March 24 after a brief illness.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Terrell; by three children, Wade Hampton Greene, Leesburg; Kathryn Lipscomb, Dunedin, Fla.; and Margaret Petroff, East Lansing, Mich.; and by five grandchildren.
Her other daughter, Suzy, was lost in an avalanche in 2003.
Nancy was a graduate of Lawrence University, Appleton, Wis., and worked as office manager for the RAND Corporation in Washington, D.C.
She was a housewife and mother, caring for her family in the extraordinary ways that bind a family together. Her home was a magnet for people of all ages—contemporaries, children, grandchildren and their young friends. She touched many with her quiet wisdom and enduring kindness.
She was also an excellent sailor, winning ocean races as skipper of 40- and 41-foot yachts in highly competitive contests, and handling sail and power boats on long and challenging cruises.
Nancy was a thoughtful and discerning contributor to her reading club. She was a longtime active member of Wicomico Parish Church.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 6, Wicomico Parish Church, Wicomico Church, followed by a reception in the parish hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wicomico Parish Church Endowment Trust.
