Native plant group meets Thursday

The Northern Neck Chapter of the Virginia Native Plant Society will meet at noon Thursday, June 21, at Wicomico Parish Church, 5191 Jessie duPont Memorial Highway, Wicomico Church.

President Kevin Howe will present “Virginia’s Amazing Carnivorous Plants.”  Last month’s visit by chapter members to Meadowview Biological Research Station near Fredericksburg also will be reviewed.

“Carnivorous plants have some of the most unique specializations in the plant kingdom and they occur in some of the most endangered habitats in the U.S.,” said Howe. “The Northern Neck is not well studied and we hope this presentation will encourage people to look around their properties for these fascinating plants…
