Nelson tees off for Randolph-Macon

Lancaster High graduate Alex Nelson of Weems posted his best round since becoming a Yellow Jacket last week when he led Randolph-Macon’s men’s golf team to a second place finish in the Glenn Heath Shipbuilders Memorial tournament at Williamsburg Golf Club.

Nelson, the son of Golden Eagle Golf Course pro Don Nelson and Gayle Nelson, rose 11 spots to finish second among 80 individuals. Nelson shot a 146 in the two-day tournament, putting up the best round of the tournament on the second day, April 11. Nelson shot a three-under-par 69. He shot a 77 in his opening round and finished three strokes behind the tournament winner David Rabil of Christopher Newport University.
