Beginning this year at Northumberland Elementary School, the afternoon pickup procedure for parents and guardians has been modified in response to requests over the last year for a more streamlined pickup process.
Parents will no longer be required to enter the school and sign out their child, but instead will now be able to stay in their cars and park in a designated car pickup area.
“Our new procedure will have NES staff members safely bringing students to their cars under the direction of our school resource officer,” said principal Stephanie Baker.
This year the school will be working to remain fully accredited by the Virginia Department of Education by emphasizing student achievement and working to meet the individual academic needs of each student, said Baker.
“We look forward to continuing to work with our students and families to make NES an amazing place to come and learn each day,” Baker said.
