Northumberland’s varsity field hockey team went 7-6 for the regular season to earn a home berth in the Class 3 Region A tournament.

The Lady Indians are the only Class 1 school in the state to have a field hockey team, forcing NHS to play in the larger tournament division. Ranked fourth in the eight-team regional tournament, the Lady Indians will host Western Albemarle in a first round match today, October 25, in Claraville.

NHS has outscored opponents 23-14 this season and lost three games in overtime.
