Rappahannock and Essex leave Lancaster spinning on the gridiron

Lancaster dropped two Northern Neck District varsity football games in one week and is still seeking its first district win. The Red Devils (2-6, 0-3) have only two chances left.

Rappahannock defeated the Devils, 62-28, last Tuesday in a rescheduled game and Essex shut out LHS, 51-0, last Friday in Tappahannock. Lancaster will travel to Colonial Beach tomorrow, October 26, and will host unbeaten Northumberland in the annual Bay Bowl Friday, November 2. The LHS-NHS game is the final regular season game for both teams.

The Indians are 6-0 and have three games remaining, including a district outing tomorrow against Rappahannock and a make-up game Monday, October 29, at Northampton. Rappahannock is 7-1 and also undefeated in the district.

The Raiders scored three unanswered touchdowns in the third quarter to pull away from Lancaster last Tuesday.

Rappahannock had held a 34-22 lead over the host Devils at the half then scored two rushing touchdowns and a defensive score in the third to take a 55-22 lead…
