The Northern Neck Orchestra on Saturday, March 2, will feature the music of Swedish composer Elfrida Andrée, the first woman from her country to compose a symphony, write an opera and conduct a major orchestra.
The Romantic Era concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. at the Lancaster Elementary School Theater, 191 School Street, Kilmarnock. Music director Michael Repper will give a pre-concert talk at 6:45 p.m. Admission is by season subscription or $40. Tickets can be purchased at www.northernneckorchestra.org or at the door. Students are admitted free.
The performance will include Andrée’s Concert Overture in D Major, Antonín Dvořák’s American Suite in A Major, Piotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet Fantasy Overture and Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov’s Capriccio Espagnol.
