Northern Neck Audubon Chapter announces Fall birding opportunities

Northern Neck Audubon recently announced several events in October for beginning and experienced bird lovers.

The chapter will sponsor a bird walk from 9 a.m.-noon October 17 at Belle Isle State Park, 1632 Belle Isle Road, Lancaster.

“This is a walk for members and the public from beginners to experts of all ages seeking a leisurely walk seeing and learning about the joy and wonder of birds,” said president Ken Knull. “If you have binoculars, please bring them but if not, there will be some on hand to borrow. A great walk to start the Fall season and look for migrating birds.”

Long-time birder and Audubon Foundation president Jim Wagner will lead this casual stroll through some of the best birding spots at the park. Belle Isle is considered to be a birders “Hot Spot” by the website eBird. They have documented 191 species of….
