Typhoon Fall Race Series concludes with Mental Floss on top

The final race of the Rappahannock River Yacht Club Typhoon Fall Race Series was held Wednesday, September 30.

Racing the previous week was cancelled due to a strong nor’easter, reported fleet captain Kevin Stepko.

“We had a picture perfect day for sailing with temperatures in the mid-70s, plenty of sunshine and a steady wind out of the southeast at 8 knots, said Stepko. “Coming into the race, Not So Hot was the only boat with a chance to take the overall first place from Mental Floss with several boats in reach of the third spot for the series.”

To start the competition, principal race officer Gary Hooper had the fleet sail an Olympic Course.  Several boats had a very good start with Mental Floss and Not so Hot slowly pulling away headed to the weather mark. The two went head-to-head around….
