Northern Neck Christian Youth plans ‘hometown’ mission projects

Northern Neck Christian Youth (NNCY) has travelled to West Virginia and upstate New York to help others over the past few years, but this year the group of teens from across Lancaster and Northumberland counties will stay closer to home.

“There was something special about being away from your normal day-to-day routine and spending time together,” said NNCY leader Dr. Trish Monge-Meberg. “This was not the vision we had for 2020. We were supposed to be in Pennsylvania, near Gettysburg, one of Jackie [Oren’s] favorite places in the world.”

Instead, some 33 youth and five adults will join with the Healthy Harvest Food Bank to harvest corn locally for four days in late July. The group had anticipated harvesting two acres but will now harvest eight to…
