KILMARNOCK—On Saturday, July 17, the Northern Neck Rotary Club held the area’s first Poker Run on the water.
Ten boats entered the competition. They were captained by Ronald Hudson, Jack Neal, Chip Hudnall, Ramona Darden, Joe Jones, Eric Webb, Duane Russell, Bayside Animal Hospital and Pet Emporium, Chris Felthouse (Primis Bank), and Chris Timberlake (Chesapeake Bank).
A Poker Run is a game of chance, not a race. Each boat sailed to five marinas and two anchored boats on the Rappahannock River. Participants picked one playing card in a sealed envelope at each checkpoint. From Urbanna to Windmill Point, the boats traveled a 3-hour course, returning to the Rotary’s home base at Willaby’s where poker hands were revealed.
