Northumberland board approves Chesapeake Preservation Area exception, tables another

HEATHSVILLE—The Northumberland board of supervisors on Thursday, May 14, approved one exception to the Chesapeake Bay Preservation Area Ordinance and tabled another.

Darryl and Joyce Krolicki received authorization to add a deck to their home at 84 Crane Court on Cranes Creek in Sandy Point. The structure on the Krolicki’s property lies partially within the 100-foot resource protection area (RPA). The proposed deck is now 32 feet by 12 feet, reduced in size from the original 58 feet by 12 feet.

There were no objections and supervisors approved the exception, 5-0, with conditions. Vegetative plantings within the RPA must be established during the first available planting season and four inches of gravel to collect stormwater must be placed below the deck.

Supervisors tabled Robert Bruechert’s request to build an accessory structure on waterfront property at 625 Harbor Drive on the Little Wicomico River in Reedville until the June 11 meeting to get more information on proposed mitigation efforts. Bruechert intends to build a 30-foot by 36-foot pole barn on the property. The entire building would lie within the RPA….
