The Northumberland County Chamber of Commerce held its annual dinner and meeting at the Crazy Crab Restaurant December 6 in Reedville.
The Chamber’s Business of the Year for 2016 was awarded to The Crazy Crab. President Doug Lemke recognized proprietors Olivia and Charles Williams with a commemorative plaque.
Guest speaker Northumberland County Sheriff James “Doc” Lyons spoke about issues concerning law enforcement and small businesses. He also spoke of the services the sheriff’s office can provide to county businesses and others.
In particular note for county businesses, the sheriff’s office can arrange patrols during off hours and provide a presence to insure safety and security, said Lyons. The sheriff’s office also can provide monitoring and assistance to ensure the elderly are safe and being looked after.
