Northumberland County Circuit Court Report

HEATHSVILLE—The Northumberland County Circuit Court convened Tuesday, November 28, with the Hon. R. Michael McKenney presiding. 

In the case of Myshaun T. Porter of Burgess, charged with two counts of distribution/selling for profit of Schedule I/II drugs, bond was granted and the case was continued to December 5. 

In the case of Michael S. Kappel of Heathsville, two counts of obtaining money under false pretenses valued over $1000, grand larceny valued over $1000 not personal property, and construction fraud by advance payment of over $1000 were concluded by nolle prosequi. Kappel pleaded nolo contendere to charges of obtaining money under false pretenses over $1000, grand larceny valued over $1000 not personal property, and construction fraud by advance payment of over $1000. The case is under advisement and a status hearing was set for November 19, 2024. Kappel faces $1710 in costs and was placed in a community corrections program. Kappel additionally pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of acting unlawfully per business regulations. He was sentenced to 12 months with 12 months suspended. 

In the case of Ronald Oliver of White Stone, charged with three counts of manufacturing/distributing Schedule I/II drugs, a status hearing was set for February 6, 2024. 

In the case of Terry M. Gordon of Hampton, charged with probation violation on a felony offense, a status hearing was continued to December 5.
