HEATHSVILLE—The Northumberland County Circuit Court convened Tuesday, February 3, with the Hon. R. Michael McKenney presiding.
In the case of Lakeena O. Noel of Virginia Beach, charged with four counts of probation violation on a felony offense, sentencing was carried over to March 3.
Keante A. Cockrell of Warsaw pleaded with nolo contendere to reckless handling of a gun causing permanent serious bodily injury. A deferred disposition was set for February 9, 2027. Cockrell faces $758 in costs, and was placed in a community corrections program.
Additionally, Cockrell pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges of unlawful hunting of a wild animal, hunting/trapping/fishing without a license, and trespassing to hunt/trap/fish. A judgement was entered and Cockrell was subject to undisclosed costs and fines.
January 20 proceedings
The Circuit Court also convened on Tuesday, January 20, with the Hon. John S. Martin presiding.
Jennie L. Lansberry of Heathsville pleaded guilty to larceny by unauthorized use of a vehicle. Lansberry faces $1002 in costs, and was placed in a community corrections program. A probation violation on a felony offense charge and failure to appear on a felony offense charge were dismissed.
