HEATHSVILLE—The Northumberland County Circuit Court convened Tuesday, June 9, with the Hon. R. Michael McKenney presiding.
Monterra T. Cottrell of Heathsville pleaded guilty to possessing/transporting a weapon as a violent felon. He was sentenced to five years and faces $3,060 in costs.
In the case of Charles L. Elmore of Warsaw, charged with probation violation on a felony offense, bond was granted and a status hearing was set for July 28.
In the case of David I. Ford of Reedville, charged with distributing/selling Schedule I/II drugs for profit, the case was continued to July 14.
Yasmeen I. Frazier of Tappahannock pleaded nolo contendere to uttering/other forgery and obtaining money under false pretenses of more than $200. She faces $2,258 in costs; deferred disposition was set for June 8, 2027.
In the case of Cedric K. Harding of Heathsville, a strangulation charge was nolle prossed. Harding also pleaded nolo contendere to a malicious wounding charge. The charge was amended to misdemeanor assault and battery of a family member. He was sentenced to 12 months with six months suspended. He faces $1,657.75 and will enroll in the batterer’s intervention group.
Kelvin D. Muse of Callao was found guilty of his second regulations violation as a tier III sex offender. He was sentenced to five years with five years suspended and faces $855 in costs.
In the case of Ashley R. Oliver of Heathsville, charged with three counts of perjury by issuing a false welfare application, three counts of larceny by welfare fraud of more than $200, and failure to notify department of change in circumstances of more than $200, a status hearing was set for July 28.
In the case of Lachoane A. Palmer of Heathsville, charged with three counts of regulation violation as a tier III sex offender, his second or more offense, a trial was set for July 21.
In the case of Joshua B. Saddler of Heathsville, charged with larceny by obtaining a credit card number, a deferred disposition was set for July 28. Saddler also faces four misdemeanor charges of credit card fraud.
In the case of Derrick D. Smith of Heathsville, charged with distributing/selling Schedule I/II drugs for profit and two counts of selling drugs near a school or library, the case was continued to July 28.
In the case of Kemijah D. Thomas of Heathsville, charged with distributing/selling Schedule I/II drugs for profit, a trial was set for September 22.
In the case of James L. Thompson of Callao, charged with two counts of distributing/selling Schedule I/II drugs for profit and possession of Schedule I/II drugs, a status hearing was set for September 8.
