Northumberland planners move closer to recommending new solar ordinance

HEATHSVILLE—With the completion of another special work session, the Northumberland planning commission on Monday, September 26, nearly completed discussions on a revised solar ordinance.

A related ordinance adopting a revenue sharing option will go to a public hearing at the commission’s October 20 meeting.

In addition to last week’s decisions to eliminate solar from general residential and waterfront residential districts, increasing the decommissioning time from six months to 12 months, and reviewing a surety bond every five years by an engineer of the county’s choosing, the commission finalized the language around the revenue sharing proposal, recommending a $1,400 per megawatt revenue sharing ordinance that includes….
