HEATHSVILLE—County administrator Luttrell Tadlock on Friday, June 28, published the final county budget approved by Northumberland supervisors at a Friday, June 21, called meeting.
As adopted, the 2024-25 fiscal year budget totals $50,201,732.
Projected revenues total $41,201,732 and are based on a $0.05 real estate tax increase, which is now $0.66 per $100 of assessed value. Anticipated revenue by category includes local sources, $24,487,850, up $2,085,712 (9.3%), other local sources, $4,552,385; and state and local sources, $12,161,497. The beginning undesignated fund balance totals $9,000,000, down from the $9,500,000 to begin the 2023-24 fiscal year.
The annual estimated expenditures total $43,957,949, which includes another $10,764,532 for the schools which has been approved, but not appropriated. Estimated expenditures by category include general government, $3,466,762; judicial, $1,216,874; public safety, $7,504,574; public works, $2,888,067; health and welfare, $3,077,847; education, $22,263,151; parks, recreation and culture, $320,515; community development, $482,114; and nondepartmental, $2,738,045.
The ending undesignated fund balance is expected to be $6,243,783, down $1,165,433 (15.7%) from 2023-24 ending balance.
