Northumberland school superintendent Holly Wargo on January 16 expressed support for hiring an additional full-time counselor to support the district’s elementary and middle schools.
“I’m very much in support of a school counselor at both the middle school and elementary school because we have increased needs in overall behavior, academic, emotional, social-emotional support. I think families will appreciate that,” said Wargo, during a public hearing on the school’s 2019-20 budget. “Usually you don’t hear me weigh in this early but it’s a definite need and it would benefit our students and families.”
