Northumberland school board hears priorities for budgetary consideration

CLARAVILLE—Budget season is on the horizon for Northumberland County Public Schools (NCPS), and director of maintenance and facilities Jeff Brann on Monday, January 9, presented the school board a list of priority items for consideration.

Brann said the resurfacing of the athletic track, a replacement maintenance plow truck, resurfacing of the school parking lots, boiler replacements, flooring upgrades at the elementary school, a generator replacement at the elementary school, relocation of the elementary school playground, school board office construction, and all well replacements for the schools are needed.

Board chairman Betty Christopher asked Brann to consider upgrading the proposed well replacements to a 40-year warranty rather than the previous 25-five year warranty. Superintendent Holly Wargo agreed with Christopher and said the formal budget request will reflect the longer warranty.
