Northumberland school board sends proposed $22.7 million budget to county supervisors

CLARAVILLE—The fiscal year 2026-27 Northumberland County School District budget is on track for timely approval following a Monday, February 9, school board meeting. The school board sent a budget totaling $22,709,881 to the board of supervisors.

Financial facilitator Karen Pica provided several budget proposals reflecting different variables, including varying salary increases and health insurance compensation for teachers and staff.

In her report, Pica noted that one primary proposal is built on county budget guidance and board of supervisors input, with the other built on consultation with the superintendent and input from the school board.
