The Northumberland school board is investigating the possibility of powering schools with solar energy.
Board members voted unanimously, 4-0, on Monday to post a request for proposals (RFP) soliciting companies interested in partnering with the district to create a solar farm to power Northumberland schools through a solar power purchase agreement.
Members Betty Christopher, Gayle Sterrett, Dana O’Bier and Gerald Howard voted in favor of a motion to create the RFP. Board member Mary Hooper was absent.
