NPL celebrates Black History Month

The Northumberland Public Library, 7204 Northumberland Highway, Heathsville, recently announced program opportunities honoring Black History Month.

Programming includes videos, exhibits and various recordings available through NPL social media, reported library director Jane Blue.

Video showings include:

• Wednesday, February 9, 2-4 p.m. Struggle for Freedom: The Life of Dr. King. This video offers a deep look at the words and actions of one of the 20th century’s most inspired leaders, for grades 4 and older.

• Friday, February 18, 10:30 a.m.-12:45 p.m., George Washington Carver and Friends. this video is geared toward grades K-5. Viewers will meet some of the amazing inventors, scientists and entrepreneurs of Black history.

• Friday, February 25, 1:30-3:30 p.m., Selma, rated PG-13, the true story of courage and hope that changed….
