The Northern Neck Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America (NNMOAA) will hold its annual Memorial Day Commemoration May 29 at Historic Christ Church, 420 Christ Church Road, Weems. The ceremony will begin with patriotic organ music at 11 a.m. and will continue with a formal observance at 11:30 a.m.
According to program coordinator, retired U.S. Army Col. William Johnson, the U.S. military enlisted and officer honorees will be retired Sergeant Gene McKeown and retired Major General Jim Harding, who are U.S. Army veterans, and whose service included Vietnam.
As previously announced, the keynote speaker will be The Rev. John A. Weatherly, who retired from the U.S. Army Chaplain Corps with the rank of colonel and served in Iraq, Bosnia and Afghanistan.
Sgt. McKeown enlisted in the Army in April 1966, following his two older brothers….
