Paul L. Groover

HEATHSVILLE—Paul Leon Groover, the son of Forrest Paul and Marie Groover, passed away at his home in Heathsville on Thursday, April 25, 2019, at the age of 76.

He graduated high school at the age of 15, attended the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md., and graduated Oklahoma State University. Paul served his country in the Naval Reserves and continued serving through his careers at McDonald Douglas, Martin Marietta, and SAIC where he worked tirelessly to safeguard our country with his brilliant mind through mathematics and analytics.

He was an avid snooker player and golf enthusiast in his retirement. He generously gave to his community and believed strongly in the people who live here.

He is survived by his wife, Lynn; his sons Russ and Traigh, their wives Karen and Jayne respectively; and his grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Hannah, Rachel, Max and Quinn Ella. He is also survived by his two sisters, Peggy Gentry and Barbara Morrison.

A celebration of his life will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, May 19, at Heathsville UMC. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations be made to any of the following charities that Paul supported including The Northern Neck-Middlesex Free Health Clinic (www.nnmfhc.org), The Haven (www.havenshelter.org), or the Northumberland County Rescue Squad (www.northumberlandcountyrescuesquad.com).

Currie Funeral Home, LLC, of Kilmarnock handled the arrangements.
