Pilots Michael Kuhnert and Mo Meeker from Bay Aviation of Topping flew their World War II-era planes over Gloucester on Sunday, May 3, in a salute to the men and women on the Riverside Walter Reed Hospital front lines during the coronavirus pandemic. Kuhnert flew a restored Fairchild J2-K2, previously flown with the U.S. Coast Guard. Meeker was in a 1943 Fairchild PT-19 that was used by the U.S. Army Air Corps. Kuhnert, who organized the vintage plane flyover, said he wanted to do it because “right now everybody thinks about themselves, but the important people are those working for others, sticking it out and showing compassion.” Photo courtesy of Rob Ostermaier for Riverside Health System
