LOTTSBURG—Members of the Northern Neck Patriotic Piecers, a branch of Quilts of Valor Foundation (QOVF), recently presented a Quilt of Valor to Carter Gilmore “Gil” Wells, a chief petty officer in the Navy in World War II.
Wells served as a radio man on aircraft in the Pacific from 1942 to 1945, reported Cathy Ortiz. He is 101 years old and is a resident of Lottsburg.
The QOVF is a national organization whose mission is to cover service members and veterans touched by war with comforting and healing Quilts of Valor. QOVF began in 2003 and has awarded over 352,000 Quilts….
