
For about 15 years area radio listeners have awakened and started their mornings with Ron Jeffries on 101.7 BAY FM as he’s delivered the news, weather and spun classic hits to get the day started.
With an undeniable passion for his craft, Jeffries curated a loyal following in the community. But lately, Jeffries has had to step away from the mic following a diagnosis of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.
ALS is a rare disease that affects the nervous system by causing nerve cell breakdowns, weakening the muscles and impacting physical function. There is no known cure.
While Jeffries had to step down from his position as operation’s manager at WKWI on April 27, the legacy he leaves behind of connecting with listeners, dedicating himself to a job he truly loved and working as a devoted community member will not be soon forgotten..
