Raiders double down for region crown

Rappahannock High School on Thursday, June 4, claimed its second championship in two weeks over Lancaster in baseball. The Raiders beat the Red Devils, 6-3, to win the Region 1A championship and earn a home berth in the Class 1 tournament quarterfinals this week.

Rappahannock shut out LHS, 10-0, on May 20 to also take the Northern Neck District tournament title.

As the regional champion, Rappahannock was scheduled to host Region 1B runner-up Luray, Lancaster, as the runner-up, traveled to play Region 1B champion, Buffalo Gap. Both quarterfinal games were scheduled for Tuesday, June 9.

Rappahannock broke a one-run tie and took the lead for good with two runs in the top of the third and the Raiders went on to….
