Rappahannock and Lancaster finish first and second in region softball

The Rappahannock softball reign continues. The Lady Raiders beat Lancaster, 7-3, to win their eighth straight Region 1A tournament championship on Thursday, June 4.

That win gave the Raiders a home berth in the Class 1 quarterfinal on Tuesday, June 9, against William Campbell, while Lancaster, as the regional runner-up, traveled to play Buffalo Gap in the state tournament. Lancaster takes a 20-5 record into the state tournament. The Raiders are 19-4.

After splitting with Rappahannock during the season then losing to the Raiders in the Northern Neck District tournament championship, the Lady Devils were looking to knock RHS off the regional throne. For four innings, it looked like that might happen…..
