RAL Art Center is in full bloom

The Art and Flower Exhibit April 10 and 11 dazzled visitors to the RAL Art Center, 9 North Main Street, Kilmarnock.

Maggie Belliel placed first with “Where the Stop.”

Seventeen talented floral designers transformed the gallery with stunning arrangements inspired by artwork throughout the space, reported Juli Schuszler. Each designer chose a piece, whether wall art, jewelry, pottery, or glass—excluding items in the Stouffer Exhibit Room, Gift Shop, or display windows—and brought it to life through their floral vision.

Carol Baron won a blue ribbon for “Spring Fling.”

Set-up began on Thursday, April 9, and by 10:30 a.m. on Friday, the gallery was awash with color and creativity, said Schuszler. The excitement peaked at the Second Friday reception on April 10, where guests mingled, admired the floral displays and voted for their favorites.

After votes were counted, executive director Stephanie Brown announced the winners, first, “Where the Stop,” by Maggie Belliel; second, (tie) “Guardian of the Marsh,” by Barbara Evans and “End of the Line,” by Doug Mock; and third, “Oyster World Weems,” by Pattie Bowman.
