Rappahannock and Northumberland players earn all-state baseball honors

The Virginia High School League announced its 2026 Class 1 all-state baseball team on Tuesday, June 16.

Patrick Henry (Glade Spring) took the top two honors. Senior outfielder and pitcher Aidan Monahan was named player of the year and Rebels coach Eric Rutherford, coach of the year.

Monahan led PH to the state championship, a 4-1 win over Rappahannock, with a .506 batting average this season and 6-2 record on the mound. At bat, he had 42 RBI, six doubles and eight home runs to score 40 runs. The right-handed pitcher also struck out 76 batters and only gave up five earned runs in 48.2 innings this season.

The Rebels placed four on the first team including Monahan.

The Northern Neck District and state runner-up Rappahannock had two players named to the first team: senior second baseman Carter Sullivan and sophomore pitcher Dayne Keyser. The Raiders also had junior first baseman Dan Morrison and senior third baseman Landen King named to the second team.

Northumberland, despite not advancing to the state tournament, filled three spots on the all-state second team with senior pitcher John Withers and junior outfielders Marcus Crawley and Lyndon Williams.
